Grscica (pronounced: Grr-shchee-ca) is a very small coastal village situated in a deep and narrow bay, well sheltered and located on the South Riviera of Korcula Island. With a position close to the road Blato-Prizba, it is approx. 1,5 km away from center of Prizba village and approx. 8 km from the inland town of Blato. Grscica used to be fishing and trading harbour dating back from ancient times, as it is evident from its many underwater archeological sites. Today, this little village has around 150 inhabitants during off-season and people are mainly engaged in tourism and agriculture, producing mostly home made vines and olive oil of an excellent quality. There are still some that practice professional fishing so if you get up early enough, you can buy freshly caught fish from these fishermen as they return from their night shift.
The village itself offers only private accommodation, mostly great seafront locations with an amazing view of the entire bay and its Mediterranean landscape with a lovely islets in front of it that make Grscica even more attractive. There is a nice restaurant right next to the shoreline always stocked with fresh fish, but the closest grocery store is in Prizba. You can find all other necessities in Blato, including supermarkets, post office, small hospital, pharmacy, specialized stores, etc.
In the vicinity of Grscica there are many beautiful coves, beaches, and islets which can be quickly reached by boat or some with a road that goes to the near by Karbuni, a charming little tourist resort. The locations for diving are especially attractive in this area and lovers of pebbly beaches are recommended to visit near by Prizba and its beautiful beach on the eastern side of Ratak peninsula. There are couple of charming and well-kept beaches in Grscica, including locations with concrete slabs and a little pebble beach suitable for children. You can also rent a boat for the exploration of surrounding area, attend a windsurfing school or go scuba diving with a local diving center. Bicycle and hiking trails can be found near by so if you prefer those activities, be sure to check out tourist office in Blato for a map of designated routes.
This little bay is a perfect choice for those who seek a peaceful location within a beautiful and unspoiled nature. Well protected from most winds, Grscica is also suitable for keeping a small or a big boat. It has its own crane and a low angled ramp for car and trailer access to the sea, so it is a great place if you are going on your vacation with a boat, jet-ski or something that requires a little more careful deployment into the water, as well as a sheltered and secured moorage.
